Did Fizz sneakily change the 200/50 Mbps plan to 200/30 Mbps?

I recently upgraded to the new 200/50 Mbps plan, mostly for the upload speed. However, since the upgrade, I've never seen upload speeds over 35 Mbps when using speedtest.net or the Fizz Wi-fi app.

Today I logged into the my plans page and I saw that my plan now says "Upload 30Mbps". Also, the Our Plans page was changed to reflect that. However, when I upgraded my plan, I received a new Services Agreement stating that the upload speed is supposed to be 50 Mbps. Is this something that Fizz can change without any notice? I can't seem to find any fine print stating that in the services agreement.

I'm not saying 30Mbps is not enough for me, it's just that the price didn't change with the "downgrade"" from 50Mbps. 77$ seemed more reasonable for 200/50 than it is for 200/30.

Hi Etienne

It looks like your findings are indeed correct. If your plan was changed, you should have been notified 30 days in advance. At least this will provide you the opportunity to accept the change or make any necessary changes.

You should contact Fizz to discuss your options. You can Live chat with Fizz support from 8 AM to 9 PM every day:

1- Connect to your Fizz account by clicking « Login » in the top right corner at fizz.ca
2- Any ad blockers in your browser should be disabled.
3- Click on one of the help links from the Solution Hub, like this one: https://fizz.ca/en/faq/i-would-like-to-change-my-fizz-hom...
4- The green chat bubble should appear after a few seconds in the bottom right corner.

I'm glad I didn't make this choice! I wanted to take 200/50 for exactly the same reasons than you. So, Fizz. your 200/30 is MUCH highter at 77$ than other ISPs. We can find it for 64$

200/30 is definitely less attractive than 200/50 for that price. Contact support to see your options.

Hi Etienne,
Did you discuss this with Fizz ? I think they should lower the price of your plan.

Etienne,
I think that this new internet plan has been offered at the beginning at 200 mbs/30 mbs.
It was a display issue.
I acknowledge that this monthly plan is less attractive at this actual price

Follow up: I just received an apology email from Fizz saying that it was a communication error. The new plan is indeed 200/30 and they will soon be sending out revised service agreements. They also offer a 25$ reduction, available as a perk, so a one-time save.
However, I'm still unsure of what I'll do after that.
