Hey Prabhjot,

Fair question to be honest but here is my response:

- Fizz is run by Vidéotron who in turn is owned by Quebecor who have a market cap of around $5bn. Not a small player

- How can you trust anyone at first? I was a very early adopter of both AirBnB and Spotify when both were also essentially Beta around 8-10 years ago. They've grown considerably. These companies wanted my credit card too and I supplied it.

- AirBnB and Uber do not generally have a phone number you can call either. (They use virtual numbers for temporary link-ups fpr security reasons). They also both use social media and chat extensively. Mnay many companies use chat, social media or even WhatsApp for business to communicate.

- Spotify don't have a number you can call although accomodation, transport, communications and music streaming are not fair comparisons in terms of being mission critical, I know

- All mobile phone companies the world over need to know where you are - in order to route the call. You are always protected by the telco regulator in that country. Unlike some social media companies which operate on the web - generally unregulated - with seeming free remit to alter what you see, hear and find-out

- In terms of getting your info stolen? Well, like with any other company I've referenced here, take your own personal precautions about credit cards, log-ons and changing them regularly. One accomodation company listed here was hacked recently and they have government issued IDs.

Be wise about your digital presence, in all cases, of course.

Fizz is not a scam and nor are their parent companies.

Good luck

There's no reason to think that this is a scam. While Fizz is still in beta, and has had more problems than you might expect, even in beta testing, it is a cheaper off shoot of a reputable company, and there's no reason to believe that it exists to steal personal information. Once you get your account fully working, it's a great service and a great deal.

It's a good thing to always be on your guards but if you are too suspicious, you will miss on the good things in life.

@Prabhjot
Fizz is a brand created by Videotron to offer cheaper services than mother company, the same as Chatr Mobile, Lucky Mobile, and Public Mobile. Fizz has no physical store and no phone support. Everything is online.
At this time, Fizz is in beta(testing), and could have many problems. I recommend not to use it as your main phone or port your main line until things settles down.

So far so good. I switched TODAY and so far everything works except receiving SMS, but a quick live chat agent was able to assure me it was just 'pending' and that we're waiting for the automated service to do its' thing.
