Still linked to older carrier after joining fizz ?

Hi,
I kept my older cellphone contract to keep my number when switching to fizz. I followed the instructions on how to properly swap number from older carrier to new one (fizz). But I’m still getting bill by my older carrier. Wasn’t fizz suppose to automatically cancel my older contract when switching my phone number ?

Fizz did the number transfer. Your old provider is supposed to cut the service.
You should contact your old provider since they sent you the bill by mistake.8 -

You still need to call your old mobile company, after the transfer is successful. Some companies will play stupid and continue charging you even though you no longer have a phone number with them...5
