Answered question

Not getting Picture txt messages on Wifi?

Why Can I not receive Pictures sent Via Txt Message when On Wifi? I could with my old provider but not with Fizz?

MMS use mobile data. Depending of different providers:
1) the data used can be free and not counting towards your monthly data usage, and working even if you don't have data included (PM for example)
2) or you might need to have data included in your plan (with Fizz)

iMessage uses the Internet (wifi or data plan) to send messages, like Messenger or WhatsApp, but only works with Apple products.

Finally, with iPhones, you can choose to send you texts messages as normal texts and MMS (green), or as iMessages (blue). You can also choose to deactivate iMessages.

Hope this clarifies a bit the different possibilities :)

Well, I don't have an iphone and I cannot receive mms on wifi...^-^

Nor could I with my previous provider.

But I'm sure Mike will have a solution for you Aaron!

Sorry Aaron, I do not know.
I know the iMessage has some features that permit this but I do not know the detail, I do not have it.
yes MMS are Multimedia Message Service, and the images are send/received using the mobile data

I believe that the MMS gateway must be public to work

Even if you don’t have a data plan, try turning on the data option on your phone and then you might be able to receive the picture.

@ Mike your answer put me on a Google trail that lead me to an answer , But it only works for Android as Apple (Ios) only allow you to have one APN, and with fizz it's locked.
So It seems the only solution is to have the Data on ... hmm I have little, and yet it disappears daily, even when at home and on stable wifi connection all day.
Thanks for your help guys

Fizz gives you a 250mo upgrade that you can apply to your plan even if you don't have data in your plan.

I believe it might actually be a purpose of these upgrades, to allow you to receive the mms when you don't have data in your plan.

Personnally, I leave it off (the data) most of the time. And I enable it when needed. It's a bit of a hassle but that way I don't lose them.
