Answered question

Can i change my phone plan based on the old prices?

So basically I'm travelling to the us soon and was hoping to get more coverage. last time I checked (before price change) it was under 35$, which was ok for me since I'm paying around 28.80$ I go to the adjust plan and see that coverage got much more expensive (45$$$$$$). IS there an alternative that costs less? I was thinking about pay as you go, but I don't know if it offers coverage ://

Unfortunately, if you change your plan now, you will lose your pricing plan forever. As others have said, you can get the add-ons for US travel. Another option is you purchase a local SIM for your phone or look at other services like Roam Mobility or KnowRoaming. If you have an eSIM in your phone, check out airalo which has some cheap data plans.

You need to pay for an Add on for the USA...but it is only for data, you won’t be able to call or receive calls. I suggest that you change your plan for Canada/USA for the time you will need it and change it again afterwards.

If you change your plan, you will pay the current plan prices.

The travel add-ons work well (or add money in your wallet to use pay-as-you-go)

You can choose one or more of these options:

Travel Add-on

USA

500 MB

$10.00

1 GB

$20.00

2 GB

$30.00

200 SMS

$4.00

60 mins calling

$4.00

Pay As You Go

USA

MB

$0.10

1 SMS

$0.05

call / per min

$0.25

I think Fizzy has a good solution depending of the time you will spend in the US.

I might get tarred and feathered for this response...  If you don't need your phone number ( as in could use a US number, or only use data and WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, iMessage, etc.  Then you could find alternatives in the US (or Canadian companies offering traveller mobile service in the US).

Since you will loose your regular plan price, this could add up in time (lost savings).

Fizz needs to be competitive with out-of-quebec coverage prices. The best competition comes when consumers know their options and Fizz keeps their plans (and increases) reasonable.

Samuel,
It depends of all your needs.
You know this:
If you change your plan now, you will pay the actual price of the plan.
Usually, it costs less in a complete month to take the option: unlimited calls or sms.

If your phone supports eSIM, take a look at Airalo. You can get 1GB of data valid for 7 days for 3$ US.
