It’s a bit weird, perhaps delightfully creepy but at least it makes you think.
I think their add makes sense as they have to try hard to highlight their advantages in order to justify the move for new users specially now that their prices are less competitive.

Had they left their competitive pricing alone they wouldn't have gone / spend after aggressive advertising to bring in new customers, or people jumping ship come early next year!
