Why are my sms in the wrong order?

If i send someone a text message their response gets displayed above my text message. This makes it hard to follow a conversation. What is causing this? How do I fix it?
This issue started a few weeks ago out of the blue on two different S7 phones. Prior to then everything was working normally.

Unfortunately this question keeps appearing because nobody seems to know exactly why it's happening or how to solve it. People have been complaining about this for atleast 8 months...6

Maybe it is phone-related? I saw a lot of issues with Samsung Galaxy in particular.6

It very well might be phone related. Come to think about it, my phones did a software update around the same time the problem occurred. I checked the date time setting and it's still getting the time from the network.
Anyone else with a Samsung S7 having this issue?
Update: The issue has mysteriously resolved itself. I've changed nothing and now my messages are in the correct order again. I'm guessing Fizz found the issue and fixed it.5
