modem not initializing

Tech came and installed everything. He plugged in the modem and said it needed to "update itself". Hours later, I'm only seeing the power light, down arrow light and a flashing up arrow light. Unplugging/replugging gets me the same results. What's going on?

Did you try an hard reset? I do not have the residential internet but I will try that or you can contact the support

Did you pay for VIP installation? If yes, I'm surprised the tech didn't stay to make sure your internet is fully working. It sounds like the modem or cable wire may be defective. One or both may need to be replaced.

 

Can you try with a different cable wire?

 

If problem presists, you should contact Fizz support to let them know your modem is not powering up properly.

The tech should have tested the signal on the cable, he wouldn't have left if something was wrong with it. I would tend to say your modem is defective (a dud).

Dominic, you are right that the tech should have tested the cable. Some cables manage to "pass" the test but fail to work with the modem.

 

It is true that new customers have reported bad cable wire and/or defective modem.
