I was referred by a friend and was not able to enter her code when I activated my plan. I also set up a plan for my son but was not able to enter my referral code while ordering his sim. I specifically waited to receive my sim and activate my plan so I could benefit from the referral program. More than a little disappointed. Is this a glitch?

It's because the referral program is being redesigned.
I'm very positive that it will come back since it is an inherent part of Fizz business model.
It's deactivated for now.
