How does local calling and text work?

Can someone explain how these add-ons work? If you have a Canada wide data plan only, and add on local calls, would you not be able to call Toronto from Ottawa? Will you be able to call if you had money in your wallet? Is texting local as well or is it according to your coverage?

If you pick the Canada wide plan, you’ll be able to talk, text and use data all across Canada at no extra charge!! Cool eh!?

Good question. I’d also like to know this. Thinking of signing my Mom up. She only uses her cell phone for emergencies so thinking of data only and pay as you go voice. Can’t find the cost of pay as you go voice.5

The prices for pay as you is in your service contract. $0.25 a minute per call and $0.05 per outgoing text. Incoming ones are free. I am just not sure how the add-ons work.6

So I had a chat with customer service on an unrelated matter and asked them how local calling and texting add on works. Apparently it's local to the coverage you chose. So if you chose Canada wide coverage, you have Canada wide calling and texting with the add on. Not confusing at all ;-)6
